Writer derides fundraising scheme

»  Comments | Post a Comment

The plus? The tobacco growers of North Carolina who participated in the nearly half million deaths each year related to smoking, may have struck a blow for the welfare of the United States by selling 52 million tons of tobacco to China to help eliminate a half million Chinese. Of course this will only help if the Chinese eliminated are those responsible for using lead paint on toys or producing toxic dry wall.
The minus? A fundraising scheme by Rosewood Middle School to allow students to purchase higher grades via a cash donation; this will be in lieu of selling chocolate bars. For $20 you can go from a B to an A or from failing to passing. The mentality of buying grades as a means of raising money will certainly help these student if they ever decide to enter politics.
