High school student banned for allegedly mutilating a cat

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Many people in downtown Rogersville were still trying to come to grips with what a high school student allegedly did to a cat. Juvenile Judge James Jay Taylor said on Tuesday that the student has been banned from all schools in the county until further notice.
Taylor said the student stabbed the cat several times and then stepped on its head, killing the cat. The Judge said the student will undergo a mental evaluation.
Another student at Cherokee High School has also been banned from all school campuses for allegedly threatening students who were making fun of the student charged with animal cruelty.
School officials were quickly alerted to the situation.
"Of course we want parents and students and faculty to feel free to come to the administrators with any unusual activity that they may see," said Charolette Britton, Hawkins County Director of Schools.
The second student has been charged with disorderly conduct. Both teens are scheduled to be back in court in January.
