What could have been? writer asks

Who could have been?
I’ve pondered the horrific demise of millions of Jews who perished during Hitler’s purge of a people he deemed unworthy of life here on Earth. Who among those who perished could have been some great contributor to help mankind survive? Who could have been the next world leader to bring peace and justice? Who could have found a cure for cancer or heart disease? Who could have been the next great athlete or author? Or how many were simply ordinary kind persons? More than six million Jews lost their lives in just a few short years; a tragedy you think could not be repeated in today’s view of civil rights to all men, women and children. But it is happening!
Consider the number of legal abortions performed in the United States since abortion was legalized in 1973. The number is appalling and unthinkable – more than 50 million unborn were taken from us.
What about the right an unborn child has to live a full and productive life? Although the legal right has been given to a woman to abort her baby if she chooses, what about the child’s right to be born and be all he or she can be? As a civil society, can we not make a provision for children to be born? Losing 50 million babies is really unthinkable. Surely we are more civilized than this. We give mothers-to-be rights to take a life and we neglect and negate the right of the unborn to live.
We must ponder these things and make a more decent law; one that allows babies to be born, to pursue their God-given destiny and to live life to the fullest.
In compassion to those who have been raped, victimized by sexual abuse, or become pregnant by accident, there are alternatives. Check the yellow pages in the phone book for groups that will help you find adoption services.
You could be carrying the next president, Olympic gymnast or a regular person who has been fortunate to be born and live life fully.
