LENOIR, N.C. (AP) - Authorities say a North Carolina gunman who wounded two sheriff's deputies and a neighbor and his 8-year-old daughter in a dispute over a dog has been found dead in his home.
Caldwell County Sheriff's Office Capt. Jeff Stafford said 63-year-old Roland Younce was fatally shot in a shootout with officers northwest of Lenoir.
Authorities say the incident started late Wednesday when the man reportedly shot his neighbor's dog after it wandered into his yard. The dog's owner, Tony Moore, and his daughter, Ashley, were wounded and police were called. Stafford said deputies had been called to Younce's home before.
Investigators say the deputies had non life-threatening injuries. Moore and his daughter were taken to regional hospitals. The family has asked the hospitals not to release information about their conditions.
