Johnson City, Tenn. -- The 10th annual Blue Plum Festival is right around the corner, and the planning committee has been working on the details for months.
This is the first year the festival has a designated headquarters. the building's owner, URA, has sponsored 124 Tipton Street as a set location for Blue Plum information.
The headquarters offers a place for people to register for festival events and the 5-k run, or the new 5-k fitness walk, find out information about the festival, or buy an event t-shirt.
Also new to this year's festival, a tail-gate style cornhole tournament. Other additions to look forward to at the Blue Plum Festival this year include:
A fitness walk for those who don't want to run the traditional 5-k....
The kids area will be moved to Munsey Church's Market Street parking lot....
And the jazz stage and music has been upgraded from last year.
All of the festival excitement brings all of the people. Last year's heat kept numbers lower than they could have been. This year, if weather stays nice, the planning committee expects about 70,000 visitors.
