Early Sunday morning the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office responded to a home on Sugar Hollow Road, near Blountville, after a report of a stabbing.
When the officers arrived, they found Ricky Ray Trivett beating on the door of a neighbors mobile home attempting to get into where
his wife, Peggy Trivett, had gone.
The officers discovered that Peggy Trivett had been stabbed once in the stomach. Officers say that an argument had occurred earlier between the two over some medication, and that's when Mr. Trivett became upset and stabbed his wife while she was laying on the bed in their home.
Investigators say she managed to get the knife away from him, but he went into the kitchen and got another knife and then stabbed himself.
Officers say that's when she ran to the next door neighbors home.
Both of them were transported to Bristol Memorial Hospital.
Ricky Trivett was released after receiving treatment and transported to the Sullivan County Correctional Facility.
He's charged with Aggravated Domestic Assault, and remains behind bars without bond.
