ABINGDON, Va. -- A former police chief of Damascus, Va., pleaded guilty in Washington County Circuit Court today to seven drug-related charges.

In a plea agreement, Tony Richardson admitted selling methamphetamine and prescription drugs while police chief. In return for the plea, the prosecution dropped nine additional drug-related charges.

In October, Richardson pleaded guilty to two other drug-related charges.

Richardson faces a maximum sentence of 85 years in prison when sentenced on all charges in May.

After the hearing, he was taken to the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Abingdon.
