Nearly 1.2 million of the tax returns processed by the state Tax Department have been electronically filed. The department said
that's an increase of 100,000 over the number of e-filers at the same time last year.
The big incentive of e-filing is that taxpayers get refunds faster.
On the flip side, the Tax Department said many taxpayers who file the traditional way - on paper - are waiting longer for
refunds. Because of fewer state dollars, the department has hired fewer seasonal workers to process returns.
