BRISTOL, Tenn. –The King College Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) / Rotaract organization is sponsoring a “$ave Green” community event at Bristol’s YMCA on Friday, March 6.
“The goal of this SIFE/Rotaract sponsored event is to educate the public on ways to save on their gas, electricity, grocery, and other monthly bills,” said Robin Ferrell, associate professor of business and SIFE/Rotaract advisor. “We hope to reach individuals and families that may be struggling to meet their monthly obligations as well as those in higher income brackets that would like to save a few extra dollars per month on their bills or help reduce our nation’s dependence on foreign oil.”
Presenters will provide information on a range of topics including: ways to save on electric bills, money management, saving on groceries, budgeting, career planning and personal financial literacy, saving gas, and home improvements that save. Chef Erskine of Southeast Culinary College will be on hand for cooking demonstrations for families on a budget.
In addition to local utility companies and businesses providing education for consumers on ways to save, local agencies that provide help when times get tough, such as the United Way, the Crisis Center, Bristol Faith in Action, and Healing Hands will also be in attendance.
“We encourage everyone to take a few minutes to come by and find out how they can ‘$ave Green’,” said Ferrell. “Stop in and register for door prizes, pick up a recipe that will feed a family of four for under $5, and check out other fun and easy ways to save money.”
The public is encouraged to attend this free event anytime between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on March 6 at the Bristol YWCA.
