Washington Co., Tenn. -- As foreclosures continue, and the housing market hasn't yet started to pick up, a community partnership is offering an opportunity to those looking to move, or those hoping make a pretty penny.
A never-been-lived-in, nearly half-million dollar home could be yours, for only $250, just by entering a raffle.
The Boys and Girls Club of Johnson City/Washington County has partnered with developer Scott Smith. A house Smith has been trying to sell, appraised at $460,000, has been slow to move on the market. Since January, the house has been off the market, awaiting state approval to be raffled. Now, 2,500 tickets are for sale, for $250 a piece. The winner is expected to pay taxes and maintenance fees, but the entire house will be paid for.
All proceeds go to the Boys and Girls Club.
The drawing is set for August 22.
If not enough tickets are sold, buyers are given the option to get a refund, or to donate to the Boys and Girls Club. Tickets, and more information, can be found online, at www.tndreamhome.org.
