Northeast Tennessee Democrats are planning a regional rally July 11 to give interested residents an opportunity to hear from all of the state’s gubernatorial candidates as well as those running for other offices – and a special, unnamed guest.
The Muster on the Mount will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 11, at the Cobb House at the Rocky Mount Museum in Piney Flats, Tenn.
Democratic party groups from Washington, Sullivan, Carter, Unicoi, Johnson, Hawkins and Greene counties are hosting the event to kick off the 2010 Tennessee Elections.
The rally will include a traditional Tennessee picnic catered by Dixie Barbecue, live music, tents hosted by the county parties, crafts and Democratic items.
Additionally, food will be collected for Second Harvest Food Bank, and a prize will be allotted to one lucky donor.
Among the candidates expected to speak are: Ward Cammick, Roy Herron, Kim McMillan and Mike McWherter, who are seeking the governor’s post;
Rep. Eddie Yokely, House District 11; and Nathan Vaughn, a former representative of House District 2.
Tickets are $12.50 for adults, and $8 for children under age 12. Tickets are available from the county Democratic parties or through the Democratic Resource Center at (423) 282-2081. Tickets also can be purchased online at www.tndrc.org.
