Renee Dye's son, Logan, was born with a cleft palate. Logan's first surgery came at three months old, then another one at 10 months and several followed.
"You try to stay positive for your kids and then sometimes you just have to have a meltdown yourself," Dye said.
Dye and her husband, Timothy, credit family and faith for staying positive after everything they've been through.
"Just because a child is born with a birth defect doesn't mean that they are not capable of doing things," Dye said.
Orthodontist, Dr. Sean Mullins describes Logan's condition.
"There is basically a gap between the bone that makes up his upper jaw, there is basically two halves to his upper jaw," said Doctor Sean Mullins.
On Wednesday 6 year-old Logan will have another surgery. Even though 85 percent of the cost for Logan's past surgeries will be paid by their insurance company. The family isn't sure how much of this latest surgery will be paid. A Johnson City company called Knickerbocker's is helping raise funds and the family is getting support from communities across the Tri-Cities region.
"God is sending the right people at the right time to help out," said Dye.
An account has been set up to help with his medical expenses at First Bank and Trust.
