UPDATE: No Guns Allowed In Johnson City City Parks

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A new state law in Tennessee is creating some controversy. It will allow people with gun carrying permits to bring handguns to parks. The new state law does allow for city and county leaders to opt out of the law. State leaders say the law was designed to make state parks safer. But those who use city parks like this one in Bristol, don't believe the law should apply here. Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey said the law was designed to make state parks safer. City and county governments have until September 1 to decide to opt out of the new law.

Thursday night, Johnson City City Council members unanimously voted to prohibit guns in city parks, with the exception of trained law enforcement personnel.
