Make Clear Decisions To Avoid Regret Later

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Lately it seems as if most of the comments about the proposed truck center in Meadowview are from people who favor putting it in. Some even sound as if Meadowview will rise to big city status, create numerous jobs, will not pollute the air any more than school buses or cars picking up our children and last of all, if we dare to differ from their opinion, we have our heads buried in the sand. I have read this last remark on at least two different occasions. Having a different opinion and being wary of what may happen does not constitute a head in the sand. In fact just the opposite is true. I am not against a truck stop, just where they want to put it.

Meadowview as a town will not be that much different except for more congestion at the interstate exchange. Will enough jobs be created to justify the risk, and will already established business suffer? Can there be certainty of no contamination of the nearby stream? Most important, above all suggested benefits and self interest, please do not forget the children! I hope there is no price tag on the health of our children.

We need to make clear, responsible decisions that we will not regret later. As the saying goes, “Be careful what you ask for, you may get it.”

Excuse me, I have to shake more sand out of my ears.
