MILWAUKEE (AP) - General Mills and grocers Kroger and Meijer are
recalling items with peanut butter amid a nationwide salmonella
outbreak.
The Food and Drug Administration has traced the outbreak to a
Georgia plant owned by Lynchburg, Virginia-based Peanut Corporation
of America. The plant produces peanut butter and peanut pase that's
distributed to institutions, food service industries and private
label food companies.
Kroger has recalled Private Selection Peanut Butter Passion Ice
Cream that was sold in its City Market, Fred Meyer, Fry's, King
Scoopers, QFC and Smith's stores in 11 states, primarily in the
West.
General Mills has recalled two flavors of snack bars: LARABAR
Peanut Butter Cookie and JamFrakas Peanut Butter Blisscrisp.
Meijer's recall applies to two cracker varieties, Meijer brand
Cheese and Peanut Butter and Toasty Peanut Butter, and ice cream
varieties, Peanut Butter and Jelly and Peanut Butter Cup.
