Whole Body Care

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Popping a pill can cut your cholesterol. But did the doctor also prescribe cutting the stress that's eroding your immune system? Or teach you how to exercise without worsening painful joints?

One of the nation's top medical groups is beginning a push toward whole-body wellness care that's preventive, predictive and personalized.

Dr. Ralph Snyderman of the Institute of Medicine says it's about going beyond standard disease-of-the-day care to look at how the body, mind and lifestyle interact and to recommend beneficial changes. Elements include coaching in nutrition and exercise.

The group hopes to interest Congress in the integrative medicine approach that is catching on at a growing number of respected academic medical centers.
