KINGSPORT, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities in northeast Tennessee have charged a Telford man with animal cruelty after finding his dog with a harness imbedded in its skin.
Washington County Sheriff Ed Graybeal said county animal control officers cited 24-year-old Randall Treadway.
Authorities said Treadway had kept a harness on the Bassett hound until the dog's skin had grown around the device, leaving it imbedded in its body.
The dog is being treated at the Johnson City Animal Shelter and is expected to recover. Treadway is scheduled to appear Feb. 25 in Jonesborough Sessions Court on one count of animal cruelty.
