»  Comments | Post a Comment

Virginia's jobless rate held steady in November, remaining well below the national average.

The seasonally unadjusted rate was at 6.4 percent last month. The Virginia Employment Commission initially reported October's rate at 6.3 percent - the lowest of the year - but revised those figures to 6.4 percent.

Despite hirings for the holiday sales rush, the number of jobless workers was unchanged in November, with 263,100.

Virginia's unemployment rate continued to be substantially below the national rate of 9.4 percent.

The state's unemployment rate has been declining since June, when it peaked at 7.3 percent.
