Teen pot smoking appears to be increasing and researchers say the national debate over the medical use of marijuana is partly to blame. They say it makes the drug's use seem safer to teenagers.
A survey of about 47,000 eighth, tenth and twelfth graders also shows fewer teens view prescription drugs and Ecstasy as dangerous, suggesting that more teens may be potential used of those drugs, that's according to White House drug czar Gil Kerlikowske. He said the survey shows the nation needs "to implement a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to preventing and treating drug use."
While the use of marijuana is up, U.S. teens have cut down on smoking cigarettes, binge drinking and meth use.
