The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development says online applications for the latest federal extension of unemployment benefits should be available Friday.
The application will be available on the department's Internet site, with the first benefit payments expected to be mailed Dec. 18. Details are at www.tn.gov/labor-wfd.
The online application will be necessary for claimants who have exhausted all prior benefits. Additionally, those who exhausted benefits before the Feb. 27, 2009, deadline for State Extended Benefits may also be eligible.
Tennesseans who exhaust their State Extended Benefits (EB09) after Dec. 17 will automatically transition into the new program without having to reapply.
