The Carter family lost one of its own over the weekend in a deadly house fire. The fire broke out early Sunday morning on A-P Carter Road in Hiltons, Virginia. Bob Forrester died in the fire. He was the husband of Rita Forrester, who runs the Carter Family Fold. Rita is a descendant of A.P. and Sarah Carter. The mountain musicians are credited with the creation of the country music movement after their first recordings in Bristol, Tennessee in 1927.
The home was a total loss. A fund to help Rita Forrester and her family has been set up at the BB&T Bank in Gate City, Virginia. It’s under Rita Janette Forrester Relief Fund.
