ROGERSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Tennessee Highway Patrol is
conducting a criminal investigation into a crash that killed two
young highway construction workers in northeast Tennessee.
THP Sgt. Stacey Heatherly confirmed the investigation to the
Kingsport Times-News on Monday and said no information on the crash
would be released until it was completed.
On Nov. 9., a pickup truck ran off Interstate 75 in Anderson
County, striking and killing two men who were tightening cables on
a recently installed safety barrier. They were 19-year-old Jeffrey
Brian Thompson II of Rogersville and 18-year-old Cheyenne Dakota
Burke of Bulls Gap.
Police identified the truck driver as 50-year-old James
Hatfield.
Brasha Bowman, who identified herself as the mother of
Thompson's young daughter, has filed a $5 million lawsuit against
the company Hatfield worked for.
