A Southwest Virginia man is dead after his car hit another vehicle head-on, and emergency crews say he wasn't wearing a seat belt.
According to Virginia State Police, a 1993 Volkswagen driven by James Allen Sproles, 34, St. Paul, Va., was traveling south on Route 71 near Nickelsville, Va. around 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon, when the car crossed the center line, hit a curve and then struck a 1998 Honda Accord. According to VSP, the Volkswagen turned on its side and partially ejected Sproles, which they say killed him at the scene.
Bryan Keith Culbertson was the driver of the Accord, and emergency crews transported him to Holston Valley Medical Center. The hospital hasn't released Culbertson's condition.
VSP is currently investigating the cause of the accident.
