Tim Addington, Scott County 9-1-1 director, said Virginia Tech measured the quake at 2.9 on the richter scale. That's different than the 2.5 quake reported by the U.S.G.S.
Still no reports of damage.

Update at 11:35 a.m.:
A 2.5 earthquake hit Scott County, Virginia this morning.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake was centered about 3 miles from Nickelsville, about 6 miles from Dugannon, 9 miles Castlewood, 17 miles from Birstol, Tennessee.
So far, no damage has been reported.

Update at 11:18 a.m.:
Bill Commander, airtraffic control director at Tri-Cities Regional Airport, told 11 Connects his office has received "a couple" of calls about the boom, but he doesn't know the source.

Something rattled the windows this morning in Scott County, Virginia.
"We even felt it here at the 9-1-1 building," said Tim Addington, Scott County E-9-1-1 director. His office started fielding calls from around the county just after 10 a.m. today, residents reporting a boom that rattled windows and seemed to shake walls.
Addington said his office had not received reports about damage to structures.
News Channel 11 Connects got calls from around Scott County, Virginia as well.
So far, there's been no confirmed source of the boom.
