A new outpatient clinic will soon serve veterans in southwest Virginia.

The new clinic will be located in the Smyth county city of Marion.

Lawmakers and the Veteran’s Administration made the announcement today at a press conference.

The Johnson City VA hospital will operate the clinic...

It will be open three days a week and offer primary care services.

The clinic should help those who don't want to travel to the hospital in east Tennessee.

"I think a lot of them don't go to the VA because of the distance,” said Air Force Veteran Turk Johnson.

The new clinic will open later this year or early next year.
