A new facility is expected to pump millions of dollars into the area economy.
Regional and local officials broke ground this morning on "Heartwood: Southwest Virginia's Artisan Gateway" in Abingdon.
The groundbreaking marked the beginning of construction on a 28 thousand square foot one-of-a-kind facility that will play host to those who want to explore our region's rich culture.
The 17 million dollar artisan gateway is projected to draw 270-thousand visitors each year and generate about ten million dollars in revenue annually.
The 15 month project may be finished by eary 2011.
