South Greene High School Strikes Up A New Marching Band

South Greene High School hasn't had a marching band since the mid-1980s, but that's not the case anymore.
The 2008 freshman class marched in new tradition at the high school last fall.
The Marching Rebels have a lot of fund-raising to do before this next marching season.
Band director Michael Douty told News Channel 11 that most established band programs operate on a minumin of a $10,000 budget, but for some its in the hundreds of thousands.
The South Greene hopes to raise $12,000 to $15,000 this weekend.
Even that will not cover the cost of uniforms, which can cost around $50,000.
The South Greene Band Boosters will host a Bazaar this Saturday at the school. The bazaar consists of three different events: a concert, spaghetti supper and an auction.
The musical line up begins at noon and runs until 5. Featured performers include: Bulls Gap, The Threetles (Beatles tribute band), Back 40 (bluegrass), Underpass (alternative rock), Mike Cable and His Jazz Band, and a special performance by the South Greene Band. Admission for the concert is $10.00, children 7 and under are free.
The spaghetti supper will be served from 4 to 6 pm. Cost for the meal is $6.00 for adults, $3.00 for children.
The auction starts at 6:00pm, admission to that is free (donated goods are still being accepted for the sale).
