STUDENT OF THE WEEK: Alex Denton

Alex Denton is this weeks News Channel Eleven and Food City Student of the week. Alex is a senior at University High School and is looking forward to attending college. It's a challenge that he's spent years preparing for.
"It's a lot of commitment, but once you get to your senior year and you are applying for college's and filling out your applications and filling out your applications and trying to get scholarships and stuff you realize how important it was," Denton said.
Alex is going to the University of Tennessee next fall and plans to major in electrical engineering. He does well in school and takes college prep biology and math classes.
"You've got to be prepared if you're going into engineering, you've got to be prepared to do a lot of math," said Denton.
Alex puts in about one or two hours of study time every night and all that hard work is starting to pay off. He's proud to be the student of the week.
"It's an honor first of all and it was definitely a surprise," Denton said.
Alex believes he'll be ready for a career in electrical engineering when gets out of college and there's no doubt he'll end up being a huge success.
