From News Channel 11’s Dave McAvoy:
State investigators with the Tennessee Department of Occupational Safety and Health Administration are in Surgoinsville, Tennessee today after the death of a worker at Alladin Plastics, 140 Industrial Drive.
The accident happened around 8:50 p.m. Tuesday. The name of the employee has not been released.
Alladin executive vice president Bob Hickman said the victim was a supervisor who'd worked at the plant for more than 30 years. Hickman said the accident happened when the supervisor tried to help another employee fix a machine.
It's the first workplace death for the company in its 60 year history, Hickman said.
The plant is shut down and probably will be for the rest of the week.
