Oct. 6 is the deadline to register to vote in this year’s presidential election, say Virginia and Tennessee voter registration officials.
“That’s the last day to make any kind of address change, name change, any kind of change,” said Washington County, Va., Voter Registrar Mary Ann Compton. “We’re encouraging everybody to call … just to make sure they’re registered to vote.”
For those who are not registered, applications are available online, at voter registration offices and at many other locations such as libraries, post offices and departments of motor vehicles.
The forms must be postmarked or hand-delivered by Oct. 6; newly registered voters will receive a voter card in the mail, which will list their voting location.
Voters are encouraged to take identification such as a driver’s license or voter card when they go to vote on Election Day, Nov. 4.
