Tennessee Officials Take Steps To Reduce Prescription Drug Abuse

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A new organization will monitor the abuse of prescription drugs in Tennessee. The Tennessee Drug Diversion Task Force is made up of local, state, and federal law enforcement, along with state agencies and healthcare professionals.
Among its members are two Washington County Sheriff's investigators. Headed by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the task force's goal is to prevent the illegal distribution, abuse, and unintended use of prescription drugs.
"We have had a serious problem with prescription medications, it seems to be that that's the new dug of choice for a lot of drug abusers." said Investigator Herman Hagie, Drug Task Force Member.
The task force hopes to eliminate problems like doctor shopping and prescription forgeries.
