I read the Bristol Herald Courier’s story “Permit process was a breeze for Carbo power plant” [Sept. 7]. In the article, it mentions Carbo’s air permit process and quotes several people who were against the Virginia City Hybrid Energy Center’s air permit.
I have been following the Virginia City project and believe that it will benefit the commonwealth.
I am especially impressed and proud of the station’s state-of-the-art environmental controls, which will lessen its impact on air, water and land resources.
For example, the station is designed to use 10 times less water than a typical power station its size. It also is being designed to be carbon-capture compatible. This certainly isn’t a coal-fired power station of the past.
I commend Dominion, my former company, for putting in the extra effort and designing this power station with the utmost environmental controls. Not only will this station produce necessary power for the commonwealth, but it will do so in a way that minimizes environmental harm.
