Jurnee Carr is this weeks News Channel 11 and Food City Student of The Week. Carr is an 8th grader at the new Ridgeview School in Gray, Tennessee. She's a top student who takes her grades seriously.
"If you don't you won't get into a good college," Carr said.
Even though she's only 13, Carr knows exactly what she wants to do for a living.
"I would like to go to school and study radiology and become a pediatric radiologist," said Carr.
Carr's 7th grade teacher, Mary Jane Allen said that she's a top student with a bright future.
"She makes sure that she's academically prepared and she has great study skills, she also has a great support system, her family, her friends, they are all going to make sure that she reaches her dreams," Allen said.
Carr says being named student of the week validates everything she's doing in the classroom.
"It shows me that I'm really doing a good job and that my hard work is paying off," Carr said.
The teen is the reigning Miss First Frontier and will compete in the Miss America Outstanding Teen pageant next year.
