Article shared information on meningitis

»  Comments | Post a Comment

I would like to say thank you to Debra McCown for the article on Tyler Johnson. I appreciate your help to get the word out regarding the terrible illnesses that are attacking our kids in this area. I have known people sick from meningitis, but it wasn’t until May of this year that I lived the horror of encephalitis and meningitis. My 12-year-old daughter was attacked by encephalitis and viral meningitis and no one has any idea how her encephalitis was contracted. When she had the second attack in June she developed meningitis. To this day the medical field can’t determine how she contracted the virus. People need to know how extreme these illnesses are. Watching my child, or any child, try to fight through the extreme pain, loss of vision, being non-responsive at times and having seizures is and has been heartbreaking. Battling this is nothing short than living through hell on earth.
Several people still ask about the illness and do not have a strong understanding of its toll on lives, the brain injury that is caused, as well as the trauma to the young life.
I appreciate you giving an update on Tyler Johnson and thank you for helping spread the word that these illnesses are real and it can happen to anyone, any child. And thank you for letting everyone know that Tyler is being prayed for. We feel very strongly, even my daughter says, God is the only thing that brought her through.
