UPDATE:  Bomb Threat Investigation Continues

Police coordinate the sweep of Cherokee High School after a bomb threat.

UPDATE: After a complete search of Cherokee High School, law enforcement teams allowed students, teachers and staff to return to class shortly before noon Wednesday. Seach teams told us they found no evicence of a bomb, and said the investigation into the threat, which was spray-painted on an outside wall of the school, continues.

11:03am Update:

Police and school officials are still holding students at Cherokee High School outside while bomb-sniffing dogs are making a final pass through the high school before an all-clear can be sounded. Police on the scene tell News Channel 11 they're not expecting to find anything as they search the school for the subject of a spray-painted bomb threat.

Hawkins County School officials tell Your Tri-Cities News Source there is a bomb threat at Cherokee High School.

School Board Director Charlotte Britton tells Your Tri-Cities News Source, faculty, students and staff arrived at the school to find “There is a bomb” spray painted on the wall of the school.

Students and teachers are being re-routed into the football stadium while Hawkins County authorities search the building and grounds.

Cherokee High School normally starts at 8a.m. Approximately 1,250 students attend the school.
