The latest addition to Nintendo’s Wii came with a workout for Will Little of Johnson City.
“Some people just need to exercise,” he said.
Stores in the Tri-Cities started selling the game Wednesday morning. It comes at a suggested retail of $89.99 and includes a mix of more than 40 yoga, aerobics, strength training and balance activities.
"Anybody who’s ever sat down with an Atari or a Nintendo entertainment system and saw the way they were only 20 years ago...it's just amazing the progress they've made," Best Buy Customer Assistance Supervisor Blaine Owen said. "You’d sit there and play for hours and the only exercise you'd get is if you actually scored a high score and jumped up and danced around.”
Mountain States Children’s Hospital Communications and Outreach Coordinator conducts health and safety seminars for Tri-Cities children.
"I think it's better, possibly, than just a regular video game,” she said. “I think, overall, kids really need to be doing cardiovascular activity: being encouraged to do life-long habits {like} walking, running, riding bikes...swimming."
