As more and more jobs are lost to overseas workers, at least one company in the Tri-Cities is looking to hire more local employees.
Nakatetsu—a Japanese plant that makes car parts—located in Jonesborough because Northeast State Technical Community College agreed to help supply its work force.
Ninety percent of its current employees are Northeast grads, and the school hopes to fill 100% of the jobs they have open in the future.
The plant has been training employees since October. They've been producing since March.
The first round of employees hired went to Japan to train before going to work in Jonesborough.
