Medical emergencies can happen any time and any place. The Bristol Regional Medical Center is increasing its space and services to better serve the Tri-Cities.
The hospital’s new $13 million dollar emergency department opened for business Monday morning.
The enhanced ER has 44 private treatment rooms. That’s up from 31.
The state of the art facility has more than 21,000 square feet of new space. There is also 10,000 square feet of renovated space.
New additions also include a new helipad for air ambulance services such as Wellmont One and MedFlight II.
This is the B-R-M-C’s first expansion project in 14-years.
The hospital has a Level II trauma center that was originally designed to take on 36,000 patients a year. Medical officials tell us they’ve treated nearly 70,000 patients annually.
