As a 20-year U.S. Army veteran with two tours in Vietnam and a tour in Thailand, I recently requested Rep. David Davis’ assistance with a citizenship problem involving my adopted daughter who was born in Thailand. I didn’t ask Mr. Davis to break any laws, just to correct an oversight, error or omission that occurred during or after the adoption process in 1973-74.
We presented 37 pages of legal and adoption documents that were filed at that time (one that went to the Immigration and Naturalization Service) that should have granted my daughter citizenship then. Davis even agreed that my daughter was a citizen, having been in the United States for 35 years, but they still couldn’t give her the legal documents indicating such. Needless to say, since we were not big campaign contributors or lobbyists, we didn’t get any help at all – except a reminder for her not to vote or risk being arrested!
I helped my grandson with Davis’ last campaign crusade, but I will do all in my powers to promote his opponent in the upcoming election and influence as many others as possible. If you vote for Davis, don’t expect any help unless you can line his pockets.
