Here’s what will happen if the Dominion Power plant is not built:
The Virginia coal will be mined anyway, probably with weaker oversight on environmental proscriptions.
The coal will be burned in functionally obsolete, less environmentally prepared power plants. Few people or commercial enterprises will turn off their power to lessen the load on these plants.
The long wait for cleaner power produced in environmentally prepared power plants will be lengthened.
Wise County will not benefit from the taxes that would be paid.
Wise County will not benefit from the jobs that would be created.
