The 82nd annual Appalachian Fair opened its gates to a big crowd Monday.
Fair Manager Richard Shadden said 147,000 people attended the fair in 2007. He’s calling for 165,000 to attend this year.
The fair promises this year to have more rides, music, entertainment and food for everyone’s pleasure.
The gates opened Monday at 3p.m. and already organizers say they believe they are seeing more customers this year then last.
Last year, a heat wave, it kept people away.
