A celebration of Appalachian music and cultural heritage, the 14th Annual MusicFest 'N Sugar Grove will take place July 8 and 9 on the grounds of the Historic Cove Creek School in Sugar Grove, NC. Performers include eight-time Grammy winner and guitar legend Doc Watson, 2010 Grammy-winning The Carolina Chocolate Drops, Shannon Whitworth and the Kruger Brothers.
Beginning in 1997 as “Doc Watson Appreciation Day,” MusicFest 'N Sugar Grove continues to
celebrate the life and music of Doc Watson and the musicians he has inspired. This one-of-a-kind Appalachian experience brings fans back year after year. MusicFest remains an intimate, family-friendly event in a beautiful mountain setting.
Musician workshops, food and craft vendors, a children's playground, and access to the Doc &
Merle Watson Folk Art Museum are available to attendees. MusicFest will also offer tours of the
Historic Cove Creek School, a picturesque WPA-era stone building listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
MusicFest 'N Sugar Grove is presented by Cove Creek Preservation and Development and the Goodnight Family Sustainable Development Program at Appalachian State University, in an effort to support local cultural sustainability. All proceeds generated by the event will benefit restoration of the Historic Cove Creek School and the Doc & Rosa Lee Watson Scholarship Fund.
Tickets for the 14th annual MusicFest 'N Sugar Grove go on sale May 15. Tickets and more
