Pottery pays off for some Tri-Cities youths.

Dozens of middle and high school students are entering the "Art In Schools" pottery contest.

The Boones Creek Potter’s Gallery is hosting the competition Saturday 2 – 6 p.m. in Johnson City.

Student entries are divided into 6th -7th, 8th – 9th and 10th -12th grade categories.

First, second, third and honorable mention winners will receive $200, $150, $100 and $50 prizes respectively.

Organizers say there are more than 120 pieces. Students are vying for "best in show" and "the people's choice" awards. They are also competing for two-thousand dollars in prize money.
