Barter Theatre is holding auditions for boys and girls age 8-to-14 for roles in the upcoming show Peter Pan on Friday, Dec. 14 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at Barter Theatre.
As the main stage opener for Barter’s 75th anniversary season, Peter Pan will be a delight for all audiences. In this classical adaptation by Richard Rose of J.M. Barrie’s beautiful story, Peter Pan, the boy who won’t grow up, visits the Darling family in London and whisks Wendy and her brothers away on the adventure of their lives to Neverland. They meet the Lost Boys, Tinkerbell, Captain Hook and Tiger Lily in an enchanted world which all children dream of visiting.
Barter Theatre is a professional equity theatre in historic downtown Abingdon, Va. Those young actors who are selected will be acting along side professional actors in this exciting 75th anniversary season production. These auditions are for boys ages 8-to-14 who are 4-feet-11-inches or shorter for the role of John Darling, and boys or girls who are 4-feet-9-inches or shorter for the role of Michael Darling. Children selected for this show will be flying during the performances.
Anyone that is interested should get parental permission and prepare a monologue no longer than one minute for the audition. There is no need to sign up in advance for these auditions. Auditionees must arrive promptly at Barter Theatre and be prepared to stay the entire time. There will be no singing for this audition.
Peter Pan rehearsals will begin Jan. 11, 2008. The production opens Feb. 6 and runs through April 13. Check www.bartertheatre.com for exact show dates and times.
