Wes Pierce, who works as a nurse in Takoma Regional Hospital’s intensive care unit, has won a regional award for “Critical Care Nurse of the Year.”
“I’m pleased to win this award and proud to be part of the Takoma team,” Pierce said.
Pierce received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in nursing at the University of Maryland at Baltimore. He also received a bachelor’s degree in biology at Tusculum College.
He is an assistant professor of nursing at Walters State Community College, as well as working in Takoma’s ICU.
“Takoma provides a great clinical experience for Walters State nursing students, which is a reflection of the exceptional teamwork of both nurses and physicians,” Pierce noted.
Pierce is a member of the Association of Critical Care Nurses and the Northeast Tennessee Chapter of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.
“Wes is an asset to our organization and a great reflection of the caliber of nurses we have at Takoma,” Tammy Albright, interim chief nursing officer, said.
