Eastman Credit Union (ECU) conducted ceremonial ground breaking exercises on Tuesday, January 25 in celebration of construction on a new branch in the Gray community.
During the ceremony, city and county officials, along with ECU staff, turned soil to officially mark the start of construction on the new facility.
The new branch, located across from the Food City in Gray at 384 Roy Martin Road, will be a full-service financial institution featuring teller services, deposit account services, consumer lending, and mortgage lending areas. It will also include a night depository, drive-thru tellers, a drive-thru ATM, and safe deposit boxes. The new branch is expected to open in the summer of 2011.
“ECU and our Gray area members are excited about opening this new facility,” ECU president and CEO, Olan O. Jones, Jr said. “ECU is dedicated to serving our members’ needs. This location will offer added convenience to a large portion of our membership. In addition, anyone who lives or works in the area can become a member and open accounts with us."
Chartered in 1934, ECU currently operates 18 branches and more than 60 ATMs in five states. Headquartered in Kingsport, Tenn. ECU serves more than 120,000 members worldwide.
